In Memoriam of Anna Teachman

July, 2018

The Washington dairy community is heartbroken and truly saddened by the sudden loss of the 2017-18 Washington State Dairy Ambassador, Anna Teachman and her father, Michael Teachman of SeaTac, Washington.

Anna’s lifelong love for dairy started through involvement in 4-H and showing dairy cattle at Washington fairs. These experiences ignited a passion in Anna to share the story of Washington’s dairy farmers with consumers which led to her position as the State Dairy Ambassador.

Throughout the last year, Anna proudly represented Washington’s dairy community through statewide public appearances with business organizations, legislators, thousands of school children, and countless consumers at events to share Washington’s dairy story.

Anna planned to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall and major in Agricultural Communications to pursue a career supporting the dairy community.  While in Tulsa for orientation, Anna and her father, Michael Teachman, were in a fatal traffic collision which sadly claimed both of their lives.

Despite this unfortunate loss, the Washington dairy community stands strong to support the Teachman family at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael and Anna’s family at this difficult time.

“All my best wishes to Anna’s family and our wonderful dairy women. I feel so blessed to have shared the last year with this outstanding young lady. Thank you, Anna. Even though you were with us for just a short time you made an immeasurable difference to so many lives.” –Scott Kinney, Dairy Farmers of Washington CEO

If you would like to help the family during this difficult time, a close family friend has set up a GoFundMe page in honor of Anna and Michael.
