Bessie’s Maiden Voyage - Washington Dairy

Bessie’s Maiden Voyage

Why was there a giant, inflatable cow in the Ballard Locks?

Because Washington dairy is a BIG deal! To celebrate National Dairy Month, Bessie, our giant, inflatable Holstein cow, cruised through the Ballard Locks on June 16th and 17th. Not only is dairy the 2nd largest commodity in Washington, it’s also one of nature’s most perfect products.

From milk and cheese to cold brew coffee with cream, nothing beats real Washington dairy—just ask the thousands of Seattleites on foot, kayak, and paddleboard that enjoyed local products as they watched Bessie float by on a barge.

Didn’t catch Bessie’s maiden voyage? Don’t worry, she’ll be heading out for another voyage through the Sound on July 14 and 15.
